I was reminded of this topic by rereading an old e-mail from a lady in India who protested vehemently against the currently available cheap reprint of The Gunroom. It is good that virtually all Morgan novels are now available either in cheap reprints or in Print-On-Demand; but the quality of many of these is so bad -- often because of sloppy OCR (Optical Character Recognition) techniques -- that they may end up putting people off. On the other hand, used-book sites like Abebooks have the original editions, as well as some early hard-back reprints, for prices lower than most of the new paperbacks: I found a number of copies of The Fountain on the British Abebooks site for less than one pound sterling! These original Macmillan editions are nicely produced and pleasant to read. Probably a better bet, at least for the more popular novels. And all praise should go to publishers like Capuchin Books, whose 2009 Capuchin Classics reprint of The Voyage is impeccable.
